Site Builder is a visual website builder within Pilot. It lets you create, edit, and publish websites with a drag-and-drop interface — no coding required.
Five Modes
Switch between modes using the toolbar at the top of the page:
- Explorer: Browse and manage all pages in a card grid view. Click any page to open the visual editor
- Chart: View your site's page structure as an interactive flowchart. Drag nodes to rearrange. This is the default view
- Design: Customize your site's visual identity — colors, fonts, logos, and branding
- Modules: Enable or disable site features (contact forms, blog, shop, etc.)
- Menus: Drag pages into navigation locations — Top Bar, Sidebar, or Footer
Page Management
From Explorer or Chart mode, you can:
- Click New Page to add a page (or folder) to your site
- Right-click any page for options: edit, duplicate, publish, unpublish, or delete
- Drag pages in Chart mode to reorder your site structure
- Click Publish Site to push all changes live at once
Design Mode
Customize how your entire site looks from one place:
- Templates: Pick from pre-built design themes, or save your own as a reusable template
- Site Identity: Set your site title, tagline, contact email, and footer text
- Branding: Upload your logo (regular and dark-background versions), favicon, and social share image
- Colors: Set primary, secondary, accent, background, text, and border colors
- Typography: Choose heading and body fonts, adjust text size and line height
- Custom CSS: Add your own CSS for advanced styling
Changes in Design mode apply instantly across all pages.
Menus Mode
Drag pages from the available pool into one of three navigation locations:
- Top Bar — main navigation header
- Sidebar — side navigation panel
- Footer — links shown in the site footer
Click Save Menus when done.
AI Assistant
Click Build with AI to open the AI Wizard. Enter your company name, industry, target audience, and a description of what you need. The AI will generate a complete site design and page structure. You can regenerate the design or request variations before accepting.
AI also lets you generate or edit individual pages with a text prompt.
AI features use credits. Building a full site costs more credits than generating a single page design.
Import an Existing Site
Click Import to bring in an existing website from HTML. Pilot parses the HTML and recreates it as editable pages in your site.
Publishing & SEO
- Preview any page before it goes live
- Publish individual pages or the entire site at once
- Each page has SEO settings (title, description, social image) that can be generated with AI or set manually
- Generate Sitemap creates an XML sitemap for search engines
Version History
Pilot saves versions of your site. Browse past versions, preview them, and restore any version to roll back a change.
Tips
- Use Chart mode to get a bird's-eye view of your site structure before editing
- Set your Design tokens first — all pages will inherit your brand colors and fonts automatically
- Use Scaffold Site to generate a starter set of pages based on your site type
